Today I was reading an excellent archived post from 501places titled “Adventure traveller and package tourist: cast from the same mould?”.  It highlighted that no matter our means or way we travel that we all have the willingness to step out of the familiar. Its true we all have similar motivations and it reminded me that it applies to life in general, not only travel.

In essence we have to take the time to smell the roses.  Some of us like a regular routine and if that works for you great but for most the need to get out, do something different and find some escape is essential. This is particularly true when you have children as routine becomes part of life – whether your kids are new born or at school.

Getting away through travel is great when you can do it but day to day; week to week we all need something.  This can be a hobby, catching up with friends, exercise or sport, playing music or anything else for self expression.  Whatever it is make sure you take the time and smell the roses….
